Named after the Moroccan coastal city where warm sunset tones meet weathered stone, the Essaouira pairs mahogany and walnut on the bowl — the reddish mahogany for the coastal light, the walnut for the old rampart rock. A 6-string oud tuned to Ccc (Do-Do), with a solid cedar soundboard, fixed bridge, and ebony pegs.

The mahogany and walnut combination delivers a warm, full-bodied tone with strong low-mid presence — well suited for expressive Arabic maqam playing and lyrical phrasing.

The Ribbed Walnut leaves the bowl ribs unsmoothed, preserving the contour of each individual stave. Where most ouds are sanded to a seamless curve, this model keeps its raw, tactile surface, connecting the player directly to the instrument’s construction. The unfinished rib texture paired with the walnut bowl and single-hole design produces a warm, focused tone with strong low-end presence. The French polish shellac finish on the bowl adds depth to the resonance, while the beeswax-finished soundboard keeps the highs smooth and organic. Well suited for players who value a deeper, more intimate sound.
